foursquare_logoSince Foursquare first launched, the site has made a lot of improvements and has seen its user base jump to over one million.  Regardless if you have used Foursquare or not for your business, its worth taking a look at because location based social networks are growing more and more every day.  It’s also worth establishing a presence on Foursquare now, to ensure your information is correct, plus there is no cost in getting started. While Foursquare is limited to Bars and Restaurants right now, that is sure to change and you will have already set yourself apart from your competition, which is never a bad thing.

Foursquare has free analytics for participating vendors, so you can see who was there, who hasn’t been there and more.  Foursquare also gives you the ability to see a user that checks into a nearby venue, so you can then allow the user to see your Special Promotion, and hopefully pulling that customer directly from your competition.

Utilizing Foursquare in Your Business

marsh_cafe_flyer via foursquareThere has been a lot of buzz lately about location based networks, such as Foursquare.  Foursquare was created for a way for people to explore the businesses in their neighborhood and then rewarding them for doing so.  A frequent visitor can then become they “mayor” of a business and utilize this title to receive incentives and savings that other customers may not receive.  Local businesses have been using Foursquare all over the country with great success.  Below is a video from a restaurant owner in Milwaukee who used foursquare to double his typical Sunday sales.  The incredible thing is there are only around 300-400 Foursquare users in the Milwaukee area.

Foursquare has also released a free analytics dashboard available to business owners who use Foursquare.  This tool will be able to track users and and tie them to specific actions.  It will enable businesses to reach more customers and track their visits, and it will also enable business owners to retain customers by reaching customers who haven’t visited recently.
