Places like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are all forms of media marketing. There are many secrets of social media marketing. Try to keep it short. All of us have skipped over things on the internet because it was just too long to read. Make sure you have a great headline that will stand out and catch the eye of the readers. Make it easy for the readers to understand, and don’t use words that are not used in everyday talk. Make sure your website gives your visitors access 24 hours a day 7 days a week and make sure you update it often.

Blogs are a great secret of social media marketing. With a blog you will want to encourage discussions. People love to talk and put in their feelings. Make sure your headline is not boring. Make it easy for people to respond to discussions. Use tags to make it easy for readers to navigate. One mistake that a lot of bloggers make is to not have a contact page. This could be a e-mail address that you made just for your bloggers to contact you.

A couple of more secrets of social media marketing is to give something away or run a contest of some kind. Have you ever been online and seen where you could win a $25 gift certificate to your favorite restaurant? I bet this caught your eye and you read all the way through so you could see how you could win.

You don’t have to respond to every person that posts on your site, they may have a different opinion but also may have the same opinion of another reader so let it go because this can make for a interesting conversation between the readers. Social media marketing is far less expensive than advertising on the television or radio, but you do have to keep it interesting. There are many secrets of social media marketing and there is no way we can cover them all, so do some homework and find what works for you. Utilizing social media is a great way to reach out to people interested in what you have to offer.

The new YouTube 5 Year Channel is the main page for the campaign.  YouTube intends to get users to submit videos about how YouTube has impacted their lives over the past 5 years.  They eventually want to turn it into a documentary, depicting the social media’s platform history and a collection of videos from celebrities discussing the past five years at YouTube.

YouTube Adds Advertising Tool for Small Businesses

Thursday, March 18th, 2010 by Nikolas Severidt

youtube-logo-copyIf you have ever uploaded a video to YouTube, you have probably seen how fast your videos can get quite a number of views.  Creating great videos and posting them on YouTube can be a very powerful marketing tool for your business.

Did you also know that YouTube can be a great place to advertise as well?  YouTube has recently announced that they will be opening up display overlay ads to more customers, giving them the ability to create their own in-video overlay and companion display ads for YouTube videos via the AdWords system.

They’re adding a new feature to their Display Ad Builder that allows customers to create their own InVideo overlay ad.  Overlay ads show up at the bottom of the screen of the video that is being played.  YouTube has said that these ads have been the most effective ads YouTube has tried.  Previously the overlay ads were complicated to set-up and mostly used by large companies who had a budget large enough to hire someone to create and design the ad.  The old system was not very small business friendly, because most small businesses couldn’t justify the set-up cost of the ads.

Below is the Display Ad Builder template.

Here’s Product Manager Christine Oestlien on the new features:

“With this new format, Display Ad Builder will enable more advertisers to run display advertising campaigns on YouTube.  For example, if you’re a small business that sells beauty products, you can quickly use a template in Display Ad Builder in AdWords to create an overlay ad and then run it on popular fashion and beauty videos.”

This new feature will allow any size business to jump into advertising on YouTube.  With the popularity of YouTube and the targeted audiences it brings, this is an incredible place to put your business in front of millions of people.  The advertising can be set-up based on cost per click (CPC) or can be based on cost per one-thousand impressions (CPM).  Businesses will also have the option to filter the audience for their ads, to ensure the ads are not reaching an irrelevant audience.

With YouTube also recently announcing that 24 hours of video is uploaded every minute, there is an audience out there that is looking for you product or service.  This will allow small businesses another online channel to market their business on a site that really didn’t offer small businesses very many options in the past.
